The Co-op is small in size and operation with 13 water connections. It is a non-regulated water co-op which was registered in 1982 with the Alberta Rural Utilities division. 

Samples are taken to detect total coliforms and E coli and are submitted to Alberta Health Services, Calgary zone. A complete water analysis is also conducted and the results are found on the website.

Only chemicals that are approved by the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality for treatment of drinking water. Currently only one chemical is added to disinfect the water for distribution and it is 12% sodium hypochlorite.

The distribution pressure system is a constant pressure system set between 47 to 52 psi depending on which pump is in the lead function. There are 2 pumps but usually only one is in use at any one time.

The well was drilled in 1979 and is 94 feet deep with a 20 gpm pump in 6-5/8" metal casing.

Yes, the normal averages are half-way down the well bore at 50 feet above the pump.

The 2004 version of Environmental Public Health Field manual can be downloaded. The contents of this manual are used in the day to day operations of the water system. A 2007 version is now available but is too large to be added to this website but can be acquired through Alberta Environment.

If you subscribe then you will receive any notifications of shutdowns, emergencies for water matters and community issues as well as news notifications that are posted to the website immediately. Otherwise you risk being communicated to after the event took place. Do you want to know that the water is going to be off before you get into the shower or after you are in the shower?

The Co-op is mandated by Alberta Rural Utilites to have a Reserve Fund available for the purchase of major assets or expenses. This fund is replenished every year through surplus earnings and rarely is there a need for a cash call.
